Football opens preseason camp

There was running, jumping and yelling. It was pretty exciting for the one in yellow shoes.

Fluvanna football head coach Jason Barnett sure was excited for the opening day of preseason practice, sporting his new, gameday bright yellow shoes.

Turner, Flucos walk off against Louisa

Down most of the game, Fluvanna used the last inning to beat border rival Louisa 11-10 Friday night.

“My hat is off to our kids. They never quit, not one time did they allow anybody to hang their head in that dugout. They just say, ‘Hey, we are coming back to win this game,” said FCHS head coach Mike Sheridan.

Anderson making STATEments, all the way to the top

YaYa Anderson was named co-state player of the year for Group AA, Division 3 by the Virginia High School Coaches Association on March 21.

He is making it a humble ending to a season where he could boast. Most 17 year old boys would beat their chest and shout it from the rooftops if selected for such an accolade.

The Fluvanna boys’ basketball team stands just two wins away from the ultimate goal, winning the Group AA Div. 3 state championship.

“Our goal is to win the state championship, but there are three teams here with the same goal. We are going to have to play really well,” said Rateau.
