Charlottesville — The Jefferson District athletics and activities directors announced through Jefferson District Sports the schedule for the district championships Tuesday afternoon.
The regular seasons for both boys’ and girls’ basketball were canceled despite district teams played uneven number of games.
The boys’ championship seeds are Charlottesville, Western Albemarle, Fluvanna, Goochland, Orange, William Monroe, Louisa and then Monticello. The four higher seeds will host the first round of action then the semifans of the tournament to be held at Monticello High School on Wednesday, Feb. 17.
The girls’ championship seeds are Fluvanna, Western Albemarle, Orange, William Monroe, Louisa, Charlottesville, Monticello and then Goochland. The four higher seeds will host the first round of action then the semifinals of the tournament to be held at Monticello High School on Tuesday, Feb. 16.
Both championship games of the basketball tournment will be at Monticello on Friday, Feb. 19.
The wrestling championships will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 10 at Orange County High School. The makeup days, if needed, are Thursday, Friday or Saturday in that order until the tournament can be completed.
The indoor track championships will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 10 at Fork Union Military Academy. The makeup day, if needed, is Monday, Feb. 15.
The swimming championships will be held on Thursday, Feb. 11 at Fork Union Military Academy. The makeup days, if needed, are Friday or Saturday in that order until the championships can be completed.
The diving championships will be held on Friday, Feb. 12 at Fork Union Military Academy as long as the swimming championships are held on Feb. 11. There are no makeup dates currently scheduled.
Fluvanna went undefeated in girls’ basketball and wrestling during both regular seasons. It is the first time girls’ basketball has won Fluvanna’s district since 1987 when FCHS played in the A division, James River District.
