Flucos finish strong to take 2nd place

The baseball team wrapped up the second seed in the Jefferson District playoffs despite starting the year 0-3 in district play

Fluvanna County made the return trip to Orange County to finish up their “lightning” game.

The Flucos were already winning 6-1 in the bottom of the second inning as the action started tonight; OCHS was batting with one out and a runner on first base. The Flucos secured the next 2 outs without the Hornets scoring.

Fluvanna County stayed hot at the plate and crossed home 6 more times in the third inning and three additional times in the fourth. While FCHS was held scoreless in the fifth inning, Orange County was held scoreless for the night and the game ended with a Fluco win 15-1 in five innings.

Fluvanna’s batters pounded out 19 hits and 15 RBIs. On the mound Tyler Denby allowed three hits whilke striking out eight Hornets. OCHS’s lone run was unearned.

The Flucos next host Monticello for the Jefferson District Quarterfinals on Monday at 7 p.m. Fluvanna finished the year with a record of 10-8 (9-5 Jefferson District). FCHS begun the year 1-6 (0-3) but climbed up and wrapped up the second seed.
