Flucos down old rival

Cameron Coles drives for a layup

Palmyra — The Fluvanna Flucos used a very balanced attack to defeat the Prince Edward Eagles in the first night of the Fluco Bash. All 13 players scored as Fluvanna ran over the Eagles 83-55 in the Shoebox Tuesday night.

Cameron Coles and Damien Harris paced the Flucos with 10 points apiece. YaYa Anderson chipped in nine while Jamal Tolliver and Bartram Zeek finished with eight points each.

Prince Edward tried to jump out in front of the Flucos using a full court trap. The Flucos were able to score many transition points because of defensive breakdown. FCHS lead 23-14 after the first period.

Using a five men in-five men out substitution pattern the whole first half, head coach Munro Rateau looked like he did when the Flucos played the Eagles two times a year.

Rateau is no stranger to seeing Prince Edward purple and yellow. The two teams played each other in the James River District before Fluvanna moved to the AA classification.

The Flucos doubled their lead during the second quarter as they went into the break with a 46-26 advantage. PEHS tried a second half comeback with Tyandice Harris scoring all but two of his 16 points in the latter half.

Fluvanna (3-2, 1-0 Jefferson District) next takes to the court Wednesday against Powhatan for the final day of the Fluco Bash. Powhatan lost to Orange in the first game of the bash. Game time scheduled for 20 minutes after the Orange-Prince Edward game ends.

Fluco Blog Live! will cover the game. Start time of the broadcast will be announced on the twitter feed.
