Bryan Rothamel

Bryan Rothamel is the executive editor and producer of Fluco Sports Net. Everything published on Fluco Sports Net is first read by Rothamel. Rothamel also is the play-by-play announcer and producer for the broadcasts on Fluco SN.

Rothamel, an ONA member, is a leader in online news gathering in the Central Virginia. His versatile nature and education has lead to developing one of the best hyper-local news organizations.

Rothamel graduated from High Point University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts in communication. He studied in the Nido R. Qubein School of Communication with a concentration in journalism.

Rothamel was the only two-section editor for the student newspaper, the Campus Chronicle. He started the advertising section and expanded the Greek section to cover all of the university’s 130 organizations. Rothamel was also HPUR’s first station manager, responsible for launching the station. HPUR broadcasted from 2 p.m. to 12 a.m. seven days a week with over 40 disc jockeys.

In addition to the Campus Chronicle and HPUR, Rothamel worked in the both the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, Office of Student Life and in the athletics department. Rothamel was a public address announcer for men’s and women’s soccer, volleyball and baseball. He was the announcer for the opening of the Coy O. Willard Sr. Stadium and the Vert Track and Soccer Stadium, an honor selected by the individual donors of the stadiums.

Rothamel graduated from Fluvanna County High School in 2006. He lettered in baseball and golf while working on the student television program, In the Know. Along with the late Luke Bashore, Rothamel named the FCHS gymnasium the ShoeBox.

Currently Rothamel is single and lives in Charlottesville.
